I knew it had to come... after much agent interest I got the first rejection after sending a query.
It was an agent I would have liked to work with. I wish I would have crossed my t's and dootted my i's better. I noticed some mistakes after sending it of course. Is it that or did the partial not live up to my smashing query?
I know I shouldn't be depressed. But I yam anyway. More later.

Teri, instead of being down about it, CHEER!! You sent the book out. There are countless people who NEVER do that. Seriously. Never. If you never risk rejection, you will never be published. It's a risk we all take. You took it, so you are a HUGE step ahead.
Someone at a conference I attended said they believe we all have a "magic number" of rejections we have to receive before we achieve our dream of being published. That means that every rejection we receive puts us one step closer to that "magic number." :-) Once I started thinking of it that way, I started sending stuff out more and getting more and more excited with each rejection letter. I was THAT much closer! :-)
Eat chocolate, give yourself a 24 hour pity party (as one of my writing friends always does) and then jump right back in and send it out again!

Rejection sucks, even the good ones. I feel your pain. I really do. Hugs and wishes for better success on the next go 'round.
Chocolate is great but a manicure is calorie-free. :o) Do something nice for yourself, you deserve it!
I agree -- do something nice for yourself (even if that "nice" is an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Brownie Madness)
